A childhood friend of mine posted this video on her blog. In short, it's about a 26 year old American who was diagnosed with breast cancer not too long ago. And he's being denied health care because he's a man. His name is Raymond. I was very moved after watching this video. My friend - herself a recent breast cancer survivor - contacted Raymond's patient advocate at the Charleston SC Cancer Center. Obviously it is cruel, sexist, and inhumane to deny Raymond health care for breast cancer due to him being male. Through his patient advocate, my friend was able to get the info of some people to contact if you'd like to help Raymond. I'm going to copy and paste it here:
1. The President Pro Tempore (or temporary head) of the South Carolina Legislature, Glenn McConnell. You can send him an email using this form.
2. The Senior US Senator from South Carolina, Lindsey Graham. Here's his email form.
3. South Carolina Representative Tim Scott. Unfortunately, Tim doesn't allow people who are not from South Carolina to use his email form. But you can give him a call.
Raymond's advocate gave permission to have her contact info printed publicly. Her name is Susan Appelbaum, at the Charleston Cancer Center, and her phone number is 843-876-1352 or 843-819-0171. Raymond both needs and deserves all the help he can get.
