last day thank-yous and goodbyes

Something I haven't blogged about is the temp contract I've had for the past 2.5 months.  I've been doing a short term contract for part of the Australian Government, and although there's been ups and downs, overall I've loved my time there.  The experience - my first full-time desk job - has given me ideas and direction on where I want to go in my career.  It's also helped me expand my social circle, and I've met some pretty amazing people in the office.

And these amazing people gave me the biggest surprise when I left!  A whole group of coworkers chipped in and bought me two beautiful cards, gorgeous orchids, Oxfam fair trade chocolate, and a kick-ass Kate Spade iPhone cover that I've been coveting...

Seriously, how lucky am I?!?!  I was both touched and embarrassed by such kindness.  I mean, I'm just a temp.  It's not like I'd worked there for a long time, or had done anything amazing during my time there.  And yet these people - these friends and colleagues - made such a fuss over me leaving that I haven't felt that special in a long time.

I hope someone's made you feel special recently.
