Let's talk about body image. I've spoken about
my size, and my
body image, a little bit. And I'm not going to mention too much on here, except to congratulate
Glamour Magazine for using more plus size models, and making a pledge to depict more "real" looking women on their pages. Because these women above are plus size models - and they look about my size - and they are absolutely gorgeous. Every single one of them. I think it's important to recognize this, especially as Kate Moss' quote "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" has been circulating
pinterest lately, with comments such as "totally" and "must remember this" and "so true". I've been told a few times that I should go into plus size modeling. I still don't agree with that, but I find myself being more comfortable and confident in my body these days, as a size 10/12, than I ever was in my early 20s as a size 6/8. So YEAY for being curvy and voluptuous and beautiful. :-) I'm absolutely in love with this photo.
100% agree with you. While I understand why others are feelin' the Kate Moss quote as motivation, I think it totally comes from the wrong place. Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels...that I could get behind. That I'd drop a cupcake for. But, " as skinny feels"? No way. Skinny does not automatically equal beautiful or healthy. Beauty is so much more than body size! As ladies, we'd be wise to remember that. :)
ReplyDeleteThat photo is totally beautiful and realistic. It always puts me a little on edge that these girls are categorized as "plus size models", when they're far from it. I'd say these girls are pretty "real size". :)
Fabulous points and beautiful photo! :)
