Remember when I did this? Well, I've decided that it's about time I wrote about something positive instead of about the struggles of being a new immigrant. So, here we go, back for a second time: the alphabet of gratitude. What and who I'm thankful for, one letter at a time.
A Airoplan miles. I racked up so many that they paid for my last trip to Canada! I wouldn't have been able to visit back home without them.
B Birthdays! I love making a big fuss over someone's birthday. Although I'm stressing slightly over what to do for My Fella's birthday in March.....
C My girlfriend Claire. Oh London, how very far away you are.
D Daylight. I love sunny days!
E Eryne and Neil (that's cheating, I know), two of my very best friends. They're back in Canada, and I miss them so much.
F Facebook. I am totally thankful for Facebook, because it lets me keep in touch with those who live far away, in a visual and interactive way.
G Good books that leave you thinking. What are you reading right now?
H High Fives. Have you given one lately? Did you know, if you look at the other person's elbow, you'll never miss their hand! Seriously! There's something so silly about them that they're an instant cheerer-upper.
I Ian. He may be gone, but that doesn't mean I'm not still grateful for him.
K Koalas. Man are they ever cute!
L Laughter. I am grateful for every moment I spend laughing. It is the best thing in life. Tied with love.
M My (new) fella (who happens to be an old friend). I am truly in love. And, you know, my mother. I'm also grateful for my mother.
N Nuts. Especially cashews.
O Open windows. I love a cool fresh breeze coming through the window.
P Paddy, my current flatmate. It is so rare to find someone you live so wonderfully with.
Q quiet moments to myself, where I can just be.
R Ricotta cheese and sliced strawberries on toast. Have you tried this yet? It's my new favourite breakfast!
S Skype - it lets me keep in touch with my loved ones back home.
T Theatre. Live theatre inspires me, energizes me, and motivates me.
U Umbrellas. Unlike the last time I did this, I now have one that works! Which is good, considering it's been raining here a lot.
V Vacations. The Fella and I are planning our next vacation, which will be a trip back home to Canada. I can't stress enough how much I'm really looking forward to sharing my country with him.
W Winston, my darling cat. What would I ever do without him? Bringing him to Australia with me is one of the best things I've ever done.
X x, the letter. It's there to stump people.
Y Yelping. Giving a little yelp when I'm startled, especially from a thriller movie. It's exhilarating to feel that burst of adrenalin.
Z zzzzzzz - this represents a good night sleep. Something I don't get often enough.

J Justification. When you can justify doing something lavish or decadent.
