I was int he living room, typing away on the computer when I started hearing scratching noises as if an animal was in our walls. Paddy was walking by, so I pointed out the noises to him. Instead of being something in the walls, it turned out to be a nuclear sized cockroach trapped in the basin of our lamp shade! Paddy went after it with a can of bug spray while I - naturally - ran screaming to my bedroom.
Turns out that was a bad idea, as the second I went through my door there was another cockroach at my feet! This one was on his back, his little legs wiggling. Paddy came rushing in to take care of the situation. Two cockroaches in two minutes. Yuk.
Paddy went to bed once he'd taken care of the two cockroach carcasses, and I started the washing up in the kitchen. I just happened to look to my left, and saw another cockroach, by the fridge! Of course, I screamed some more and called for Paddy. He is such a good man. He doesn't even make fun of me for my creepy-crawly fears. He just shows up with a can of spray, a fly swatter, and some paper towels. He's like my own personal live-in super hero.
Anyway, the cockroach had disappeared by the time Paddy got there. He moved the fridge and everything to look for it. I was standing in the doorway telling him it was there somewhere, when all of a sudden it was on the floor racing right towards me!!
That was the end of my night. We have gone a good two months without seeing anything, then last night, within the span of ten minutes, I saw - and Paddy killed - three giant cockroaches.
Gah.
