I was going to post this picture, but I thought it might be too cynical, so I chose the beautiful roses instead.

I've been reading all these lovely posts about Valentine's Day, and how great it is to be in love and in a stable relationship, and great things to get him/her, or great ways to celebrate the day, etc etc etc.....and all I can think about is that I'm single.  And I'm pretty much the only single girl of all my girlfriends.  I admit, I'm wallowing in a bit of self-pitty here.  So I've decided to do something about it.  For starters, I'm going to stay the hell away from romantic comedy movies this week!  I'm also sending all my friends Valentine's Day cards by snail mail, reminding myself that it's not just about the love of a partner, but about the love of friends as well.  Aside from this, though, I think that on Monday I'm just going to curl up on the couch with my cat Winston, eat a tub of ice cream, and watch Die Hard.

Tell me, what did you do on Valentine's Day when you were single (or, what do you do now, if you are single), and all your friends were/are coupled off?

  1. I'm married. Have been for almost 11 years. But we also have two kids under the age of nine. Since Valentine's Day falls on a Monday, which is also a school night, you will be seeing as much romantic action as I will.

I have never put much stock in Valentine's Day. I'm pretty cynical of such things. Single or married, I approach it the same way.
