So Canada Day came and went (July 1st), and I didn't post anything. I should have, but time got away on me.
Although I'm living away from home at the moment, and will be for the next few years, I am so very lucky to be able to call myself Canadian. It's a funny thing, nationality. If you look at my heritage, I'm more Australian than Canadian. The Australian side of my family can be traced back to the very first fleet of convicts, whereas I'm only third generation Canadian - my great grandfather came over from Scotland. But when Anzac Day happened, I didn't really feel much. Same with Australia Day. All that national pride and I couldn't tap into it - it's not me.
But with Canada, though, my heart swells when I think of all the cultural references and traditions I grew up with and relate to. And when my mother posted this video on my Facebook page for Canada Day, I just couldn't stop smiling. It is just so true.
Chris Hadfield, a retired Canadian astronaut, collaborated with his brother David to make what they term as 'the most Canadian music video ever'. And it's just so great.
Hope your day is going okay. Enjoy this little beauty.
