Something compelled my mother to give me one of those small desk top calendars for Christmas. You know the kind, where there's a different inspirational message each day. Well this one has instructions for life instead of inspirational messages.
I say "something compelled" because it's not at all the type of thing we give each other. But I'm putting it to use and it's doing a very good job of keeping this unemployed gal from forgetting what day of the week it is.
The surprising thing is I haven't been able to stop thinking about yesterday's message. "Do something today that you'll want to brag about tomorrow".
What a great suggestion. Especially for me, who finds it hard to be productive when there isn't a set routine in place, like going to work. I've therefore decided to do exactly that; make sure I do one thing each day that I can brag about the next. I won't actually brag about them, of course, but it'll make me do things other than sit around in my pyjamas drinking tea.
I'm not entirely sure I did something I can brag about today, but I certainly was productive! I did two loads of laundry, cleaned up and organized the kitchen, made two veggie lasagnes (with the goal of portioning them off and sticking them in the freezer for nights we don't feel like cooking), sorted out part of our garage (which is currently our storage space), finally packed away our Christmas decorations, went grocery shopping and got caught up on emails I've been too busy to respond to while my parents were in town. I also organized our bathroom cabinet and read for an entire hour.
I wonder what I'll do tomorrow that I can brag about (silently, to myself) on Saturday......
you can brag to me! I care! :) xox
