30 before thirty

I've seen a few "30 things I want to do before I turn 30" blog posts. Since I turn 30 in eleven months, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon of stating how I want to spend my last year as a twenty-something.
1. let my hair be its natural colour for the first time since I was twelve (almost there)
2. get new glasses frames (I haven't had new frames in 5 years)
3. sing kareoke (this will probably have to involve quite a few apple martinis)
4. go winter camping
5. go to Wreck Beach, Vancouver's nude beach
6. go to Portland for a few days
7. lose a dress size (or more!....)
8. sew myself a sun dress
9. organize my kitchen pantry
10. buy a set of cloth napkins and napkin rings
11. sew myself a quilt (I've been too busy making them for other people)
12. get a hot stone massage
13. take swing dancing lessons
14. audition for some of the equity (union) theatre companies in town
15. complete another 40 day yoga challenge
16. share a ridiculously expensive bottle of champagne with someone special
17. for once and for all, finish decorating my apartment (especially my living room)
18. go on a spontaneous weekend getaway
19. land myself a continuous teaching gig (it's hard out here for teachers right now!)
20. hike Mount Frosty this summer
21. organize my wall-size bookshelf
22. take cooking lessons
23. go snowshoeing
24. write one hand-written letter to a far-away friend a month
25. keep in better, more constant contact with my girlfriend in London, Claire
26. take better care of my nails
27. go polar bear swimming (or is it called "polar bear jumping", or "polar bear dipping"??)
28. get really dressed up and go to a really fancy restaurant for dinner
29. survive the fact that everybody around me's getting married and having kids, and I'm single
30. host a girly, fancy dress, tea party
So many amazing things here! Believe it or not, I'm planning to reorganize our bookcases this weekend, and even though it goes against my anal tendencies to sort by genre, I'm going to model them after this: http://pinterest.com/pin/2774571/ What do you think? A friend of mine sorted hers like this, and then the bookcases became sort of like an art piece installation. I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it, Amy! But I'm like you - all my books have to be arranged according to genre. I love this, in someone else's place. But in my own, I think I'd go crazy within the day lol GO FOR IT! And show a picture when you're done (pretty please)
ReplyDeleteI love this post and your blog. I'm so happy I've discovered it from your lovely comments on my blog. :)
